Capability to Cloud in under 5 months

The Challenge

A large Federal government organisation needed to uplift and migrate their existing GIS platform to a newly established Azure cloud. This involved moving a complex ArcGIS Enterprise system, split over multiple environments, from an on-premises deployment to the Azure cloud. The system had a long legacy of providing critical spatial information to numerous users, with associated practices and processes that needed to be addressed to ensure a successful transition.

The Solution

Onneer leveraged industry best practices and out-of-the-box tools to successfully migrate, optimise, and complete the full transition of the GIS system in under five months. The project was completed with an average of three full-time equivalent resources over 19 weeks, with approximately two weeks of User Acceptance Testing (UAT) and handover.

The Results

Onneer’s expertise in understanding complex ArcGIS enterprise systems and their specialisation in ArcGIS capability enabled them to migrate multiple complex enterprise environments from on-premises to an Azure cloud-based architecture. Providing advice and guidance to improve these systems where possible and transferring the necessary knowledge to further empower the department's team. Onneer’s effective communication with the client and internal teams, leveraging existing and trusted tools, and the right expertise at the right time ensured the project was delivered successfully.
