Building a spatial capability for all Australians

The Challenge

Geoscience Australia engaged Onneer to support the development and delivery of the Digital Atlas of Australia. This ambitious project aimed to provide a central platform to enhance access and the use of curated, trusted spatial data from across government through an Integrated Geospatial Infrastructure.

The Solution

The Onneer team played a key role in bringing the Digital Atlas to life. This included designing its architecture using out-of-the-box solutions to ensure the platform was interoperable, secure and scalable. We now support the ongoing maintenance and improvement of the platform.

The Results

The Digital Atlas is a globally recognised example of how an Integrated Geospatial Infrastructure can break down data silos and transform place-based decisions. The Digital Atlas curates and connects hundreds of trusted national spatial datasets for governments, businesses and communities to use.

Onneer now provides a substantial self-managed spatial capability to Geoscience Australia with expertise in program management, system administration and development, content management, application design, and advisory services. Our expertise, backed by industry-best technology and practices, is evolving to meet the growing uptake and demand for geospatial data for informed decision making.

Benefits:

  • National integration: Unified geospatial data accessible to all Australians in one place.
  • Sustainable growth: Scalable system architecture supports long-term development.
  • Expert team: A highly skilled team ensures robust and reliable system management backed by industry best practices.
  • Innovative infrastructure: The Digital Atlas is a leading example of Integrated Geospatial Infrastructure.
  • Continuous improvement: Ongoing collaboration and knowledge transfer with stakeholders.
